Art Crawl, July 2009

The July Art Crawl was good. The Arcade was steamy and people were sweaty, but folks still managed to have a good time.

Project: Beastie Boys

The night before Bonnaroo started rumor went out across Nashville that the Beastie Boys were going to play a secret show. So Rex2 got busy and made 10 posters (9" x 24") to give away to fans and to the Beasties themselves. But ... the Beastie Boys didn't show up. Still there was a great energy at the venue (The Basement), and the people who got posters felt like their night was not a complete waste.

Project: Clean Drips/Scotty Poster

For the "Clean Drips" at Rocketown back in March, Rex2 created 20 posters (9"x 24") based around old Rustoleum spray paint cans. The character is called "Scotty" and was Rusto's mascot during the 60s and 70s. The plaid pattern is still used on Rusto cans. Twenty posters were made and given to people that came and asked for them.

Watkins Demo

A while back we were asked to come out and do a stenciled print demonstration at Watkins College of Art and Design. About twenty-five students came out to watch Rex2 rock an Eazy-E poster. Special thanks to Juli Shculman for organizing it and to the student designed this poster and hung them all over the campus.

In Store at Phat Kaps with KidsMeal

This is a video from our in store at Phat Kaps. This was for the KidsMeal "Secret Recipe" CD pre-release. KidsMeal was spinning tunes while Rex2 was outside making 11 customs prints. The prints were then given to people whose name was randomly drawn from a hat. Also there were 20 KidsMeal packs sold at the event. The pack included "Secret Recipe" CD, a WorkForce Rebellion print (12" x 18") and a KidsMeal/WFR/Phat Kaps T-Shirt. Thanks to T at Phat Kaps for hosting a great event.

Bonaroo Production - Tiananmen Square Memorial

We did a 100' wall at Bonaroo (5th and Broadway) on June 1. It was a crazy hot day, and took us 13 hours.
The theme was a memorial to the students killed at Tiananmen Square 20 years ago (06-04-89) while peaceful protesting for more freedoms in China. The students had been there for 2 months when the Chinese army came in firing on them with guns and tanks. Many of the surviving protesters remain in jail or political exile.

Here is a BBC news report from that day.

Trading Cards 2 & 3

Last year Rex2 made some trading cards to take the first Boom Bap, a monthly event thrown by our friend and fellow graffiti writer Sir Smok. So, for the One Year Anniversary of Boom Bap, Rex made some new cards to give out. He also made some to take to Mad Donna's in East Nashville. Maybe you got one.

Project 25: Happy New Year 2009

It went over so well last year, that we decided to do the New Year's Poster thing again. This year Rex2 and AudRoc each did a limited edition poster. Rex2 did 15 (9" x 24") posters with a Baby New Year theme. AudRoc did 30 (9" x 22") posters with a bird dropping bombs theme.
We hit the town on New Year's Eve and gave the posters to good people.

Mashville - December 2008

We got down at Mashville again in December. This time the theme was Danger Mouse, a British cartoon from the 80s that aired in the U.S. on Nickelodeon.
The weather was beautiful. It was windy, but also sunny and warm.
Pako came out again. It's the first time in years the three Nashville members of TM rocked a production together. Good times!

Also, the guys at Yung and Ugly who organize Mashville have a new website.
Check it out at: www.yungandugly.com

Live Hard, Live Fast - Ruby Green

AudRoc hooked up another title wall for Ruby Green Gallery.

End of Days - Bar 23

Pako was commissioned by Bar 23 in Nashville to paint the walls for their Halloween event. Since the bar was closing shortly after the event, they called the night "End of Days". Pako painted apocolyptic scenes to go with that title. Check out the detail on the stock exchange board ... crazy detail!

We got down at Mashville again. And this time Rex2 hung a (60" x 72") canvas in the middle of his piece, and AudRoc incorporated the giant stencil from his canvas (48" x 72") into his piece. Both are now on permanent display at Jerry's Artarama. We also had our boy Krenny Kruger video record Rex2 painting. Check back for the video.

Thanks to Shannon at Jerry's Artarama for helping out with the Montana Gold paint and the canvas.

(or Pete Rock on Oct 12 at The Place - check back)

Project 24: Wick-It

DJ Wick-It (one of our favorite DJs) was definitely having the best week ever with his big article in The Nashville Scene followed up by AudRoc and Rex2 rocking a WorkForce Rebellion/Wick-It production at the August edition of Mashville. On top of that the Rebellion gave him four posters to share with friends. He deserves it, dude is a cool, down-to-earth guy and a sick-ass DJ.
